Samsung Galaxy S II vs Apple iPhone 4S–Which Is The Ultimate Smartphone?

October 8th, 2011

Samsung’s Galaxy S II finally landed in the U.S. Wednesday at AT&T. A true hit in Europe, Samsung’s follow-up to the Epic Touch 4G features a thin and light body, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, an 8-megapixel camera, and a powerful dual-core Samsung Exynos processor.

Samsung chose an excellent time to release its new smartphone. Some are still mourning Tuesday’s announcement from Apple HQ that there would be no iPhone 5 just yet, and that consumers would have to settle with an iPhone 4 follow-up called the iPhone 4S.

AT&T Sells Samsung Galaxy S II for $200

October 8th, 2011

AT&T are already selling Samsung Galaxy S II, a 4G smartphone, for $199.99 starting Oct. 2.

The Android 2.3 device is stacked with a 4.3-in. Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display and a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, making it the fastest of AT&T’s smartphones. The Galaxy S II will work on AT&T’s HSPA+ 4G network, which is different from the 4G LTE network that the carrier just began rolling out in five cities. While it’s not LTE, HSPA+ is still much faster than 3G, offering download speeds of up to 21Mbps.

The Galaxy S II is the US thinnest 4G smartphone, measuring 0.35 in. (8.89mm) at its thinnest point, according to AT&T. With HDMI output of 1080p, the Galaxy S II enables users to rent or buy movies from Samsung’s Media Hub and view them on a television with an HDTV smart adapter, which unfortunately is sold separately. Galaxy S II vs Sensation 4G vs G2x vs ATRIX 4G: specs comparison

October 8th, 2011

In the latest battle of epic specifications, dual-core giants meet the new contender: the HTC Sensation 4G. Does it have the technical guts and software power to win the dual-core competition kicked off by the T-Mobile G2x and Motorola Atrix 4G? To see its prospects we broke down specs in details, but before jumping into that let’s mention the software that runs the show.

HTC takes pride in its famous and shiny Sense UI and in its newest 3.0 version it has quietly improved not only the looks, but the functionality as well with dynamic updates of widgets straight from the lockscreen. To support its memory-hungry apetite, HTC has included 768MB of RAM and a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor. Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is much less demanding, but you don’t get that many fancy effects, but rather a clean down-to-business interface. It’s those two handsets that will come out with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, giving them a slight edge over the powered by Froyo T-Mobile G2x and Motorola Atrix 4G. While LG went with vanilla build of the green robot, Motorola chose the controversial Motoblur skin.

Samsung Galaxy S II Review

October 8th, 2011

Manufactured by Samsung as a successor to the ultra-successful Galaxy S, the Galaxy S2 is packed with impressive features that propel it to the first place of the smartphone market. The Galaxy S2 boasts of a Dual Core ARM v.7 1.2GHz processor and a Super AMOLED Plus display—and it runs on the Gingerbread system (also known as the Android 2.3 OS).

Aside from the top-of-the-line features, the Galaxy S2 has a sleek design and is guaranteed to be light as a feather; this smartphone heavyweight weighs in at an amazing 116 grams. One can only be impressed with this kind of technology in such a light weight. However, Samsung has picked plastic over the premium feel of an all-metal chassis, which explains the lightness of the mobile phone to some extent. This is more obvious once you remove the back cover, but you will not be doing this often. The back cover has a mesh texture that will keep the phone from easily sliding off your hand and should also keep the palm from getting warm when holding the Galaxy S2 for long periods of time.
